From the owners of Rustic Canyon, Huckleberry, and Milo and Olive comes an ice cream shop known as Sweet Rose Creamery. Josh Loeb and Zoe Nathan teamed up with former baker of Tartine Bakery in San Francisco Shiho Yoshikawa to create authentic, creamy, organic ice cream made from scratch.

The shop uses local ingredients and pasteurizes on site. You can find ice cream, sorbets, and even frozen cakes and pies. Toppings are also made from scratch. Two of my favorites are the pecan crumble, which resembles pecan cookie bits and homemade marshmallows. The marshmallows themselves are a masterpiece: pillowy, soft white concoctions that simply melt in your mouth.

Located in snazzy Brentwood Country Mart where celebs frequent, the shop is quite small, with only a few bar stools for eating indoors. Most of the seating can be found outdoors. Upon arrival, you can sample up to two flavors. The freshness of the ice cream can be tasted in each bite. Flavors change regularly, although there are a few flavors that remain on the menu daily: salted caramel, chocolate, vanilla, fresh mint, and coffee. The salted caramel can be made with a sprinkle of sea salt on top. As for the fresh mint, expect the taste of the fresh mint herb and not the generic fake green syrup found in the frozen ice cream section at your local grocery store.
Scoops of ice cream are fairly large. Sweet Rose offers the option of two small single scoops for an extra chunk of change to enable you to have two different flavors without paying for a double.
The menu:

And of course, I couldn't just get a scoop of ice cream. At this store, the only way to do it is to get a two scoop sundae.

My sundae ($7.50): I got a scoop of salted caramel with a scoop of fresh mint. It comes with one topping, hot fudge or caramel and fresh whipped cream. I chose pecan crumble as my topping along with hot fudge. This sundae is what I call a real, legit, nonsense sundae! They start out with a base of hot fudge with the pecan crumble, the scoop of fresh mint ice cream, another layer of hot fudge and pecan crumble, the scoop of salted caramel, then the final layer of hot fudge, pecan crumble and whipped cream. In each bite taken, there is no way you will miss out on all the delectable toppings and creamery!
Sweet Rose Creamery has a few locations throughout Los Angeles. It offers variations of flavors daily so if you decided you wanted to have ice cream everyday, you wouldn't be bored. From sundaes to plain ol' single scoop ice creams, you can't go wrong with this place. Would I come back? Most definitely! I highly recommend this place for a visit.
