Smooth. Rich. Creamy. Interesting. Those are all adjectives that describe the epitome of Humphry Slocombe's deliciously authentic ice cream. Named after characters from the British sitcom "Are You Being Served?," the founders Jake Godby and Sean Vahey wanted to create a frozen dessert that would be delicious and bizarre. They make everything from scratch, including their toppings. Their mission is to devise a formula that would capture the essence of the flavors that are in the ice cream, i.e. make sure the bacon ice cream actually tastes like bacon!

A little bit about their history

The flavors

TWO SCOOPS ($6.50): Pepper and Mint Chip-cubeb pepper, mint and dark chocolate chips. Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple. The pepper and mint chip is an interesting combination. It was good and something different than the usual mint chip. A little spicy but with the fresh mint taste. My favorite out of the two was the Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple. You literally taste the peanut butter and the fudge. I mean, look at the ripples of fudge in the picture! Together, I probably didn't pick the best combination.

TWO SCOOPS ($6.50): MY FAVORITE FLAVOR: Secret Breakfast-Bourbon and Cornflakes. Malted Milk Chocolate. The secret breakfast was so good. Who would've thought cornflakes and bourbon would be a good combination. The bourbon was a nice smoky touch as an after taste and the cornflakes added a crunch to the creaminess. The malted milk chocolate had a deliciously chocolate flavor. I like this flavor as it wasn't crazy sweet.

Overall, Humphry Slocombe is an ice cream shop able to withhold its motto of delivering fresh ice cream with profound flavors. You definitely taste every bit of each ingredient put into this creamy deliciousness. There are currently two stores offering this dessert in the Bay Area. The one I visited had a long line, so expect a wait! It's worth every penny and time in the queue.

  1. So while it's true that the people make an event (and the people definitely made any event!) this space definitely adds a different dimension to it. Went to San Francisco event venues here for an evening event and I was really impressed.
